Russian Helicopters (RH) has denied further responsibility for the “safe operation” of the Afghan Defense Ministry's Mi-17V-5 helicopter after Kabul overhauled it to a Slovak company, LOTN, as reported by Russian Helicopter's official website.
“Based on information received about the unauthorized repairs of 1 Mi-17V-5 helicopter from the Afghan Ministry of Defense by a LOTN aircraft repair company from Slovakia, the JSC” Russian Helicopters “represents the designer (JSC” Mil Moscow Helicopter Plant “) and the manufacturer (PJSC “Kazan Helicopters”) rejects all further responsibility for the safe operation of rotorcraft and has good reason to refuse to provide service support for the operation of the helicopter, “Russian Helicopters wrote.
The overhaul of the Mi-17V-5 helicopter was carried out at a Slovak repair facility that did not master this Russian-made rotorcraft type over order. In addition, an overhaul has been carried out under the improvement/inspection of documentation developed byLOTNN without any participation and supervision from the designer or producer.
Updated repair and design documentation for Mi-17V-5 military helicopters, spare parts and group kits for improvement were never given by Russian Helicopters to the aircraft repair company concerned.
The Russian Helicopters company will let know all international and Russian agents and interested entities about the registration of a Slovak aircraft repair company, LOTN on a list of aircraft repair facilities that carry out unauthorized repairs of the Mi-17V-5 military rotorcraft, the statement added.
